Carers NSW Disaster Preparedness Hub

Carers NSW is pleased to share that the Disaster Preparedness Hub is now available for your download, use and to share with your networks.

As you may know the Care2Prepare project has been working with older people, people living with a disability or chronic health condition and family and friend carers to co-design inclusive disaster preparedness tools for bush fire and flood.

The tools are based on the University of Sydney’s Person-Centred Emergency Preparedness (P-CEP) principles recognised in the State Disaster Mitigation Plan and have been designed and field tested with over 260 households to ensure it meets the needs of this group.

The resulting Disaster Preparedness Hub provides a tailored resource and process for understanding individual capabilities, delivering a practical and inclusive plan to prepare for and respond to bush fire and flood.

We welcome any enquiries from agencies who wish to discuss, link to, or adopt the toolkit for use within their own activities.
