The Canberra Region Joint Organisation is a government body that provides regional leadership to connect communities within the South East region. We collaborate with all levels of government, industry and community to work together to provide a vibrant regional vision and deliver important key outcomes.

Our Board

Our Board consists of the Mayors from our member councils, each serving as a voting representative. The General Managers of these councils participate in a non-voting capacity. Additionally, our Board includes associate members from Wagga Wagga City Council, the ACT Government, and a representative from the NSW Government. We are also proud to have Canberra Airport as an affiliate member.

Joint Organisation Net Zero Accelerator (JONZA)

This program aims to build capacity in member councils to support achieving net zero outcomes.

Regional Waste and Resource Recovery Program

This program unites waste managers to enhance recycling, reduce waste, & promote a circular economy.

Regional Community Strategic Plan (RCSP)

The RCSP is a joint procurement by councils, with CSPs focused on community and prosperity.

Don't Bin Batteries

CRJO is running a regional media campaign to reduce the growing number of battery-related fires in our regional waste trucks and facilities. We’re urging everyone not to dispose of batteries in the red or yellow bins. Instead, please drop them off at major retailers like Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, or Bunnings, at other B-Cycle drop-off points, or at your local Council's Community Recycling Centres.

New Chairperson & Deputy Elected for CRJO

Cr Russell Fitzpatrick, Mayor of Bega Valley Shire Council, has been elected Chairperson, and Cr Julia Ham, Mayor of Snowy Valleys Council, has been elected Deputy Chairperson of the Canberra Region Joint Organisation at the board's first meeting on Friday, 25 October 2024.

Joint Organisation Network Takes Home LGNSW Award

We are proud to announce that the Joint Organisation network was honoured at the recent LGNSW Awards held on 1 August 2024. The network received the LGNSW Planning Award in Division D for its efforts in embedding resilience into NSW councils and sharing valuable lessons to build stronger, more resilient communities.
